Enabling and Disabling
Motion detection can be enabled or disabled in several ways:
- Motion Detection Switch: Flip the switch next to the camera on the device list or tap into the Camera, then go to Options > Motion Detection. This will manually enable or disable motion detection.
- Modes: When you create a new camera, Rules will be added to automatically enable motion detection when you go into Away mode, and disable motion detection when you go into the Home mode. You may delete or edit these Rules to fit your needs.
- Scheduled Rules: You can add additional Rules to enable or disable motion detection at certain times of day, on specific days of the week.
Motion detection behavior
When motion detection is enabled, the camera will countdown 30 seconds by default before activating it. After it activates, you will see green boxes appear on the camera's screen wherever motion is detected. When motion is detected, the camera will send you an instant push notification, followed by an email to your inbox with a link to the video showing what happened. Presence waits for there to be no motion between 30 minutes by default before re-activating the motion detection.
Presence will not record motion detection events or video while you are actively viewing the camera remotely, but you can take a snapshot or record a video using the icons at the bottom of the screen. Also, if a motion detection video is being recorded while you are attempting to watch the camera remotely, you can choose to stop and upload the video, or wait for the recording to finish before viewing your cameras live stream.
If one of your friends is sharing their camera with you and it captures a motion detection video then you will also receive an alert. You will be able to sign in to your account and view their videos until they stop sharing their camera.
You may also choose to mute any number of your friends' devices.
